The sun beats down relentlessly on the reddish earth. In this Sancti Spíritus landscape, where the rock refuses to surrender, a project advances that reconciles the epic with the everyday; the freighter opens its path between shreds of dust and promises of light.

At the wheel, Carlos Manuel Valdivia tenses his muscles beneath his sweat-soaked shirt. Every movement of the steering wheel is pure calculation, because he also holds the pulse of this energy revolution in his hands.

At his side, defying gravity and heat, travels Yen. The six-month-old pit bull gazes at the horizon like an ancient sentinel. The glow of his eyes, a liquid amber that catches the sun, seems to wink at the panels awaiting their final connections. Together, man and dog, they are the double-beating heart of the Cabaiguán Photovoltaic Solar Park, one of the three energy superstructures (21.8 MW each) that will emerge this year in the province to defy the darkness.
