Mariano and his science for tobacco

Taguasquense tobacco farmer Mariano Ferrer La O has a lot of knowledge inside him. This has allowed him to achieve high agricultural yields in dryland areas. These days, with the arrival of rain, he has had enough moisture to begin tying the vega:
“Yes, I have started tying the cujes; there hasn’t been any moisture for many days, and now I’m starting this process. It’s essential to work well to keep it in the pilón for about 30 days so the leaves can mature. This complements the work in the fields, as the temperature must be regulated, as excessive temperatures can rot the tobacco, and you lose the year. Quality must be maintained; that’s the key factor seen in the Escogida process.”
Mariano doesn’t hide his secret for closing each harvest with high yields of sun-on-stick tobacco without the possibility of irrigation.
