The eclipse in Sancti Spíritus

The eclipse in Sancti Spíritus

While many of us were waiting for the partial solar eclipse, which is how it would be seen in the national territory, the clouds did their thing, but something could always be observed.

The referred astronomical event had a complete duration of two hours and 25 minutes while the coverage of the solar disk reached 42.3 percent, according to the Institute of Geophysics and Astronomy (IGA), of the Ministry of Science.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon interposes itself between the Earth and the Sun, totally or partially blocking sunlight. The celestial phenomenon is possible when the Sun and the Moon are aligned from the Earth’s perspective. It causes darkness for a few minutes in the middle of the day, leaving only a ring of visible sunlight around the lunar silhouette.

Thus, the eclipse was seen from the city of Sancti Spíritus.
